Congratulations! You scored that big first date, you nailed the post-first-date communication and you’ve been on a few dates. Now what? Dinner and a movie? A quick drink after work? There’s a ton of options from ordinary to the extraordinary, and you’ve got a decision to make.
Jason from iwearyourshirt.com and I are asking your opinion: What’s the most “unique” (not crazy.. just unique) date idea that you can come up with? Rock climbing? Maybe going to an outdoor symphony? Sky diving?!?! Leave your idea in the comments, and two lucky winners will get $50 Gift Cards to Zappos.com! You are going to need the right shoes for that date.
We’re all trying to impress one another, and different things appeal to different people. While a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains and a picnic lunch might sound like a bore to one person, another might find it the perfect date. Bungee jumping could be a date made in heaven for some, or a heart attack for others! But for the purposes of this blog post, “the gloves/shoes are off.” Give us your best shot with your most “unique” date idea.
Jason will be picking the winners on his live feed at 3pm EST tomorrow, July 24! Good luck!

well I have always thought of a faerie ride with dinner to be pretty romantic, but I would treat it like a surprise, tell her were going to the movies and take her to the dinner on the water.

Definitely a cooking class! It’s something very unique and allows you to be playful and have great interaction with the other person.
I always thought scuba diving would be awesome, but it’s hard to interact underwater, so either that or go to Ikea and buy something that has to be built and build it together with some take out and maybe a movie.
For Leftie…I think you meant Ferry..but I digress. I think a canoe trip on the boundary waters…not during mosquito season though.
I live in NYC, and there is a place on the lower west side that gives helicopter rides. I’ve never done this before, but i feel like a new view of a city she’s lived in her whole life would be pretty cool. Seeing the city at sunset must be pretty, and i feel like an exhilarating (and somewhat fearful) date would bring two people together. A nice dinner after to talk about the experience and relax on the ground. If possible walk her home.
Oooh Ben I like your cooking class idea. I would say anything that the guy plans as a suprise…A lot of girls say they hate suprises but it’s not true.
Something way outside the normal, like working at a soup kitchen.
I’ve always thought a hot air balloon ride at sunset would be a romantic date. Follow it up with a picnic dinner, and you’re set.
There is a beach here in Florida that is known to have sharks teeth. I think sifting through the sand for a tooth or piece of tooth would be unique. Of course, if the date didn’t go well it would at least be an interesting reminder.
Take a how-to massage class together… better chance of the relationship working out if you can give each other awesome massages.
How about a trip to Ellis Island? It’s fun to get there, interesting, and both parties can look into their own heritage. An excursion like that opens great opportunities for conversation and learning about each other (and probably themselves).
Pack a lunch or dinner and head off to the mountains. Your goal is to find the most secret, hidden, serene place together in the woods, close your eyes, and just listen to the sounds around you. And hey, if you find a waterfall .. great.. if not, there’s always desert! ;)
Go on a hike. The DAY DATE is the key element. Do you groove without the help of wine, food, music and all the elements of nightlife. It needs to be just people. Something simple. Grab a low brow lunch afterwards. Fish tacos or burgers. Simple. Other friends can be included here as well.
He has a table for two set up for dinner outside in the grasses of the Headlands overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. We arrive by car to see personal chef awaiting, with my favorite dish in hand, ready to serve. After the chef pours the drinks, he is free to leave. :)
I used to go to U of I last year and when ever I was driving home late at night it would be really dark. The drive was mostly though farm land and there were almost no lights any where. With the surrounding darkness, the stars were so bright and so many. I think it would be awesome to bring a blanket and just chill under the stars.
My date took me to the horse track. I thought it was very unique. we would look at the program for the race day and have me pick a horse that I thought would win. Each race would only cost me $2.00 and I would always pick the horse for show. It was so fun watching the race and yelling out for our horse to win.

find the stuff in your city that tourists do, then do that- like museums, aquariums, historical houses etc. Dress like tourists, throw on a fanny pack, make up a story about hou you’re from XYZ town to share with other tourists and have fun.
This is easy. The obvious answer is tank-driving lessons. (http://berlin.unlike.net/locations/249-Panzer-Fun-Fahrschule)
Make a Cribs video with each other. FTW
Motor scooter jumping?
blind date halloween party. show up in costume (obviously share what that is) then find out what each other looks like at the end of the night. this is just a seasonal thing, so i guess get the timing right.
Take your date to a gun range — perfect date — no reason to rush, plenty to teach/learn, intimate. Total win.
A great, adventurous, and EASY date idea (once you’ve got a few dates under your belt) is geocaching. If you’ve got a decent GPS, use it, otherwise just borrow one from a friend. Go to http://www.geocaching.com and get the coordinates for a few nearby caches. There are plenty in both urban and rural areas. It forces you to work as a team and a lot of times it’s downright hilarious and addicting. Oh, and bring a camera too. Get some good pictures with your treasure.
And one more thing - bring a trash bag so you can pick up litter and do some good while you’re out there: Cache in, trash out!
I recently joined a Women’s Roller Derby league and I can’t seem to get enough of skating! I think a great date idea would be to go out to a skate park or skating rink and do a couple of laps. If he’s not an experienced skater I’d hold his hand until he got the knack of it… but if he was I’d put on my gear and race derby style (hip checks and all). =o]
try an arboretum, its relaxing just to walk around all the plants/flowers, they usually don’t see something like that coming so it’s a big winner….throw in a bottle of wine amongst the roses and it’s a slam dunk victory!
The Real Tim Jones- The Gun Range is kind of funny. My husband took me there on one of our dates. He wanted to make sure I could protect myself. I don’t know if it was from him. LOL but it was a lot of fun.
I would probably want to go to the side of a bridge during the sunset so i can watch the sun set on the city. I would be able to talk to them since we wont really be doing anything and the sunset is a great background scenery. I would also bring a camera to take pictures so i can have a memory of that date.
I’ll throw out a couple ideas, as I’m not eligible for the prize anyway. ;-)
Points to Dave Y. — geocaching sounds great if you do your homework and make sure that the last cache you hit has a picnic lunch that you set out earlier.
In the summer, go picking your own fruit. A little trip out to a farm, fresh air, kids running around, sweet and fresh fruit. (Blueberries are really easy to pick; strawberries involve a lot of bending over but are still good.)
I’m hitting food a lot, but a nice casual date is to meet for dinner after work at a high-end grocery that has a deli with things like pasta salad, marinated veggies, fresh bread, and funky natural juices and teas.
And Jackie’s got a good idea of going on a photography day. Digital cameras are great for this — just go out taking pictures of everything and see what comes out well on film.
I had a great date once at an aquarium. The zoo can be fun, but the aquariums I’ve been to have lots of hidden nooks and crannies to explore around in, and that makes it fun. Also look for conservatories, gardens or greenhouses that have walk-through butterfly or bird houses, or different segments with different environments.
Do something fun and unique together like taking a trapeze arts class! It’s something that likely both of you have never done so would be a fun and interesting experience.
i need monies
I personally think that going out on a boat and tubing/skiing would be FANTASTICC!! Eat snacky foods and just have fun. I don’t prefere things to be so tense.
